Aleister Black

Wow, haven’t posted in a long while. Thought I go ahead and start up again by doing a post on the Morning Warmup sketch I did this morning.
I’ve been doing quick Warmup sketches every now and then right before I jump in to Nightmare Pro Wrestling comic pages.
This one is of Aleister Black. Been a fan of Tommy End from what I’ve seen of him on PWG. He’s got a cool look and I’m really liking what he’s doing now that he’s in NXT.
I’m really looking forward to seeing his Pro Wrestling career grow in the WWE.

Here’s the sketch with progressions line work, starting with a quick sketch, getting in some detail, adding in final details, colors, and adding shadows.

NXT R Evolution FanArt – Jon David Guerra

NXT R EVOLUTION! The best thing going on in WWE right now is NXT! Great wrestlers. Great characters. Great wrestling. And something I really appreciate, it has great but simple storytelling. Nothing embodied all of those things than NXT’s special event, NXT: R-EVOLUTION. That show along with WrestleKingdom 9, got me excited about Pro Wrestling again. It inspired me to start doing NXT sketches every week in place of the Monday Night Draw sketches I do of Raw. This is the beginning of that, a print of pretty much every wrestler involved in NXT: R-Evolution.

The Art Print is available for Pre-Order over on the Nightmare Pro Wrestling Shop!

Goldust and Stardust

Goldust and Stardust by Jon David Guerra
Goldust and Stardust! Another interesting Raw this week. A lot of things happened to build up the Money in the Bank special event as well as the growing feud between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. We got another cool promo from the Wyatt Family (I love that Harper is becoming a part of their promos), and I started to get a little worried. Not of what would happen during the matches or who would qualify for the last spot in the Money in The Bank but what was I going to draw for this week’s Monday Night Draw sketch?!?? I was already on the verge of doing another Wyatt Family sketch with an idea of one developing with Reigns, or Ambrose and Rollins but I’ve done a lot of Wyatt/Shield sketches and wanted to do something different. Then it happened!

Goldust came out to the ring to face Rybaxel with his “new” tag team partner, STARDUST! Cody Rhodes is now all painted up like his brother with his own variation of the Goldust character, Stardust. I’m not sure if I’m a 100% on board yet, I need to see more, but his look and actions in the ring had me interested enough for me to want to sketch him and Goldust in this week’s Monday Night Draw.

I wanted an interesting composition with this sketch and focused on making them a little more realistic while still keeping their design fun and still threw in a little of my cartoony style when it came down to proportions and likeness. I added in some texture to the background which really adds to the overall appeal of the images, creating a subtle focus on the characters while also giving more interest to the background. Really happy with this week’s Monday Night Draw.

Pick up a print of this week’s Monday Night Draw!

WNS Podcast Commission by Jon David Guerra
WNS Podcast Commission! Here’s a commission I did for my buddy Daniel Herrin of the WNS Podcast. I had a lot of fun with this one. The biggest challenge was getting all three of the hosts (Daniel, Tyler, and Doug) to be visible in the print. The idea was for them to be doing some sort of wrestling move/moves that would have them all interacting with each other. I went through a few versions and had the same problem of not being able to see most of one of their faces and thus not being able to capture a likeness. I finally came up with this Tower of Doom setup, which allowed for all of their faces to be visible. Really happy with the way this one came out.

All you WNS Podcast listeners can pick a print for $10 + shipping.
This will be printed on 11″ x 17″ Heavy Card Stock.
